2018 Coach’s Message
Greetings Bullard Baseball Family,
It is with great excitement that we look ahead to the 2018 season. 2017 saw a group of young men battle through incredible challenges to become CMAC Champions. Virtually the entire team returns for the 2018 campaign. What was an entirely new stable of pitchers in 2017 is now a seasoned group, including the 2017 CMAC Pitcher of the Year, Jared Villalobos. Around the diamond, we will find five other ALL CMAC players in 1st Teamers Asa Adam, Jake Newman, and Zack Sorondo, and 2nd Teamers Jay Luevano and Spencer Jarocki.
As is always the case, we find the best coaches to shape that talent under the Bullard Baseball model. While the 2018 staff will see some changes, we are able to rely on some men who are no strangers to success on the diamond …
Josh Glynn returns for what promises to be another successful year as my right-hand man and pitching coach. His relationship with our pitchers helps each young man achieve and surpass their team and individual goals.
Returning for his third season, in a multitude of roles, is Brett Jones. Brett will be instrumental in working with hitters at all levels and will be responsible for scouting. Coach Jones returned home following a successful college career at Fresno City College and University of Nevada, Reno.
Also in his third season and working with our hitters and outfielders is Coach Rangel. His playing experience at national powerhouse Cal State Fullerton will provide our young men with a wonderful wealth of knowledge from someone who understands excellence and discipline.
Cameron Sherrer is returning for his second season. He has transformed our strength and conditioning program, helping our athletes make strength gains like we have never seen before. Incredible gains in speed and strength will undoubtedly translate to success on the diamond.
Our newest addition is no stranger to baseball success. Cal Cain is a member of the Fresno State Baseball Hall of Fame (Class of 1998). Following his career at Fresno State, Cal spent three seasons in the Cincinnati Reds organization. He will be working with our hitters, providing the next piece of the puzzle for success in achieving our goal of another section title.
Zach Burt is in his third season as the Head Junior Varsity Coach. While playing in a Knights uniform, Zach demonstrated an unequalled amount of heart in the most difficult situations on the mound and in the field. The two-way player was never shy under the heat of the brightest lights of Central Section Baseball.
We also welcome to our JV staff Coach Burt’s former teammate, Josh Ornelas. Josh returns to the program with a Valley Championship ring and a passion for Bullard Baseball that will help our young men prepare to make the jump to varsity.
Guiding an incredibly talented Freshman group is arguably one of the best players to ever roam Mike Noakes Field, Matt “Chuey” Telesco. His talent and toughness are traits that will benefit any player lucky enough to be around him. There is no telling of the potential success these young men will experience under Coach Telesco’s guidance.
I look forward to seeing you at Mike Noakes Field!
Chad Thornhill, Head Coach, Bullard Baseball
2017 CMAC Honors
May 26, 2017
This week, the Athletic Directors approved the All CMAC Teams for 2017. They also announced the CMAC Pitcher, Player and Coach of the Year.
Coach Thornhill says, “I am very proud of all of our boys. With four players making the 1st Team, including Jared Villalobos being honored as Pitcher of the Year, and two players being named to the 2nd Team. This is a tremendous honor as we cannot vote for our own players and is a reflection of the thoughts of our opponents.”
2017 CMAC Pitcher of the Year: Jared Villalobos
Jared Villalobos, Asa Adam, Jake Newman, and Zack Sorondo were named to the 2017 All-CMAC 1st Team. Jay Luevano and Spencer Jarocki were named to the All-CMAC 2nd Team.
And we’re also proud to announce that Coach Thornhill was named the 2017 CMAC Coach of the Year.

2017 Coach’s Message
It is with great excitement that we look ahead to the 2017 season. We are at the threshold of what we anticipate to be some amazing years here at Bullard High. While we are younger than we have ever been, we are returning some very talented position players. On the mound, we will be seeing an entirely new stable of arms that are eager to compete. Despite their youth, they have demonstrated incredible leadership, loyalty and selflessness that will be a cornerstone to our teams.
As is always the case, we find the best coaches to shape that talent under the Bullard model. While the 2017 staff will see some changes, we are able to rely on some men who are no strangers to success in a Knights uniform.
Josh Glynn returns for what promises to be another successful year as my right hand man and pitching coach. Under his guidance, this youthful staff, anchored by senior Darren Jansen, will work relentlessly to maximize their potential.
Returning for his second season is Brett Jones. Brett will oversee much of our swing work this season. Coach Jones returned home following a successful college career at Fresno City and University of Nevada, Reno.
Also in his second season and working with our hitters and outfielders is Coach Rangel. His playing experience at national powerhouse Cal State Fullerton will provide our young roster with a wonderful wealth of knowledge from someone who understands excellence and discipline.
Our newest addition, Cameron Sherrer, has already accumulated hundreds of hours with our talented young team, having spent the academy season and fall semester on the field and designing and implementing our strength and conditioning program.
Zach Burt is in his second season as the Head Junior Varisty Coach. While playing in a Knights uniform, Zach demonstrated an unequalled amount of heart in the most difficult situations on the mound and in the field. The two-way player was never shy under the heat of the brightest lights of Central Section Baseball.
We also welcome Jeff Nelson to our JV staff. Coach Nelson has spent time coaching in our academy and throughout Fresno Unified. His dedication to learning and personal drive for excellence will be a great asset to Coach Burt.
Head Coach Brian Mott returns for his third season at the helm of our freshman team. Coach Mott’s passion for excellence and development of the fundamentals will undoubtedly help a talent-rich freshman class realize championship success.
Also returning for his third season as Freshman Assistant is Joey Telesco. Joey possesses one of the finest young minds in baseball. He will provide our players with the fundamental skills necessary to succeed through every level of competition.
While we are younger than we have ever been, the potential for greatness has never been higher. This is arguably the most talented and close-knit group of players we have ever had. We have spent countless hours working on leadership and team building, with the understanding of its importance to what we expect will be a very exciting run.
